is an English dessert , its origin is based in the town of Bakewell and emerged from a culinary error.
The legend says it was the cook of a British pub (White Horse Inn) who was wrong when conducting a strawberry cake and inadvertently added above it, a mixture of egg and almonds. The surprise came when after checking the result was so good that the dish became popular in the inn.
Since then (1860) can enjoy this delicious cake and today is in the confectionery Old Original Bakewell Pudding Shop.
Basically it's a cake made a pastry (breeze), a layer of strawberry jam and cream above it frangipane (almond cream) topped with sliced almonds.
Four different textures that hardly leave anyone indifferent. I recommend it absolutely and totally!

Development
started making pastry.
order to do this in a bowl, flour, sugar, salt, egg, sugar, vanilla and cold butter cut into bits.
Knead a few minutes at first but as crumbles to be working will turn into a manageable mass. It is convenient to work too much, just enough so that we are not oil. We form a ball and let rest in the refrigerator, wrapped in plastic wrap, half hour or so, so hard.
Meanwhile, we prepared the almond cream.
Beat the softened butter with sugar until creamy, then we add the eggs one by one, so that until well blended one, do not add the following. Finally the ground almonds. Mix well and reserve. We have the frangipane list.
Now subtract the final assembly and baking. We have
pan and greased and floured, removing excess remaining flour that may remain.
We removed the pastry we had lying in the fridge, over a stretch silpat using a roller, it should be fine, but with enough body to do good base.
The disposal into the mold, pasting it to the base and removing the protruding edges.
cover the dough with the jam we have chosen. In my case, a jar of homemade strawberry jam, but it and any other flavor. Extend it across the surface so that it is evenly distributed.
frangipane Then we put the cream on it and sprinkle the sliced almonds with a little sugar.
Bake in preheated oven at 180 ยบ for 30-40 minutes, or until beginning to brown look at the surface.
let cool, unmold and sprinkle with icing sugar can, that since our choice.
With these numbers I gave for a mold of 24 cm and for two tarts like the photos.
already we have our cake Bakewell!! crunchhh and that the mixture of flavors and textures make delicious ...
